Two Trip Leaders for Camp O-AT-KA: Camp O-AT-KA, a residential boys' camp located on Lake Sebago, Maine is seeking two leaders for our wilderness trips program. O-AT-KA is a traditional camp, focusing on aquatics, land sports, the arts, and outdoor living skills. Campers come for two to four weeks and have the opportunity to go on a variety of day and overnight trips to the mountains, lakes, and rivers of Maine and New Hampshire. Trips last from one to five days and vary in difficulty according to the ages of the boys, who range from 8 to 16 years.O-AT-KA is seeking dynamic and personable leaders with an interest in youth education and experiential programs. Successful candidates will be at least 21 years of age, with a valid driver's license and appropriate first aid certifications. O-AT-KA will provide training for the Maine Camp Trip Leader permit examination, an 8 hour course. Leaders will be responsible for packing out, leading, and de-issuing equipment for each trip. There is an in-camp coordinator for scheduling, menus, and equipment.Camp staff orientation begins June 15, 2008, with additional training and work opportunities beginning June 1, 2008. The camp season runs until August 10, 2008, and there are opportunities for post-camp work as late as September 30, 2008. Salaries range based upon age and experience, beginning at $250 per week, plus a travel stipend.
